I have been working with children for over 30 years. My BA is in Studio Art and I am a certified nanny (the same as early childhood certificate). I was a nanny for the same family for over 20 years. I taught preschool for ten years and first grade for five years. I was a missionary for seven years. I taught preschool and first grade in Jerusalem (students were a mix of local and international students) and I taught first grade in Jordan (mostly children of missionary families). All three schools I worked at overseas were Christian. Currently I am teaching art on the marketplace called Outschool but I am missing the faith based curriculum.
Growing up I always had a gift of faith. I knew Jesus was who He said He was. In my early twenties I knew I needed a relationship with God. I found a local church, committed my life to God, was baptized and became very involved with children’s and women’s ministry. In 2005 I went on a Holy Land trip. Years later I felt the Lord leading me to serve overseas and specifically in the Holy Land. I trained for four years before leaving. Someone asked me how my first year went and I said I was surprised how much ‘my’ faith grew that year. I attended monthly prayer meetings in Bethlehem and was on a team that met weekly for study and prayer. I feel that in those seven years, I drew even closer to Jesus than all the years before. I learned to love bigger through His Spirit. Now being back in the States, (and due to covid) I miss the opportunities to share and teach young children about God’s Word and the beauty in His creation. I do attend church online and do a weekly Bible study online. My husband and I pray together and we like to read the Bible out loud to each other.
I continue to enjoy all types of art. I oil paint, draw, and like photography. I also spend my time reading, gardening, cross stitch, crochet, and love baking.
