Summary
I have teaching qualifications and experience, but my best ideas come from being a parent. When I think of what my husband and daughters need to know in English, the ideas just start flowing! My husband hates grammar and studying, and my girls don´t know what grammar is. So, in my materials you will find a lot of real-life situations and an emphasis on communication and output.
Experience
I have been teaching languages since 2010. This includes bilingual schools, corporations, language centers, and online. Since 2014, I have worked exclusively online as a teacher and course creator.
In addition, I specialize in training new, or transitioning, online teachers in the best practice and most engaging strategies and tools for their classes. Through in-person seminars, I have trained over 100 instructors in Central America and Mexico.
I currently hold a B.A. Degree in English Language Learner Studies and 2 M.A. Degrees. The first is in Educational Technology and the second is in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, I have a TEFL Teaching Certificate issued by the Secretary of Education in Mexico.
Growing up in a Roman Catholic family, I have always been involved with church and community activities. I actually began teaching when I was volunteering for a local church. I created, implemented, and taught an ESL program for adult immigrants. It was through this experience that I changed from a nursing major to education.
And I was fortunate enough to be able to continue volunteering for various religious organizations during my time in Central America. Specifically in El Salvador, where my daughter was born, was were I was the most active with regards to the missions.
My favorite thing to do is travel. I have been to over 15 countries and have lived in 4 different ones so far. In addition, I enjoy swimming, especially at the beach, and art. I design all of my own materials for my courses because I love making bright, colorful, eye-catching activities.
