    A Bit About Me
I am passionate about education, nature, people and life! My husband, two teen boys and I live near Cincinnati Ohio. We are an active homeschool family and enjoy our free time together reading, watching movies, playing games or exploring the great outdoors.

    My Qualifications
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University- Athens ( obtained Certification in Special Education) and some post graduate work on a Master of Arts in Reading and Literacy at Ohio State University. I am an OCVN Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist.

    My Experience
I am an experienced educator, as I have spent over 25 years in the education of children. I have worked for 10 years as a public school teacher. There, I taught various ages of children with a variety of educational needs in my work as a certified special needs teacher & intervention specialist. During my college summers I worked in camp leadership serving inner-city children in an outdoor setting. I currently home-school my 2 teen boys and have for the past 12+ years. I have taught nature study classes at my home-school co-op, taught art at a private school and I also work with local parks as a certified volunteer naturalist in historical interpretation and nature education. I have been a distance educator on Outschool for the past 4 years.

    My Philosophy of Education
My philosophy of education is to do what works! As a teacher, it is my job to get to know my students and find out what works for each one! Students are individuals, and each one learns in their own unique way. I use multiple methods of teaching. (linguistic, visual, auditory, kinesthetic ) to reach students, so that everyone has an opportunity to connect and learn.

My ultimate goal as an educator is to bring my students into independence with their learning. I believe that all children are unique and have a lot they can bring to their own education. As a teacher, I want to empower my students with solid strategies for learning. To this end, my instruction starts with guiding students into deeper thinking, observation and experiences.

My relationship with Jesus started as a young child but I went deeper in my commitment to him in my college years. My faith in God is the foundation of my life. I want to move powerfully in who Christ made me to be to bring his kingdom to the hearts of others.

I adore my husband and two teen boys so anything that has me spending time with them is my interest! .We like to play games together, watch movies and explore the great outdoors. Anytime I can be outside I am ready! I enjoy kayaking, swimming, hiking, exploring, nature photography & nature journaling.
