I have been a teacher since 1980 when I began to give piano lesson while I was in college. Once, I graduated with my Bachelor degree in Music, I returned home to Miami, FL to teacher music and Math at Florida Christian School. Later, I received the opportunity to teach in a very economically depressed area in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The Lord gave me this special ministry with Middle School students. During those years I taught piano, Junior High Chorus, Math, Science, Geography and US History. In 1999, I moved to Ohio and began working as a Special Education teacher after receiving my Master’s Degree in Special Education with a reading Endorsement. I worked with Elementary through High School students of many differing degrees of need during that time. I also became High Qualified in English, Social Studies and Science by the State of Ohio during this time. I also received Orton GIllingham training at the Scottish Rite in Cincinnati, OH during the Summer of 2008. Finally, I taught Geography at Miami Dade Community School during the early 1990’s and at Wilmington College during ’05 and ’06
I received Salvation the summer of my 9th year and was baptized that fall. I then was discipled over the remainder of my childhood at church and then at school. I graduated from Florida Christian School in Miami, FL. I then went away to two different Christian Universities (early ’80s) . During that time, I had to decide to continue to follow the faith that I was taught: walking in belief and obeying His word. As many other young adults, I had to decide if it was my faith or that of my family. As the years progressed, The Lord led me to be the Music Director at several churches in Miami and a piano teacher while teaching Music in both Christian and then Public Schools. I continued to stay in the word and do my best to obey and follow the Lord during good and bad times. Now, my ministry has changed and we are raising our 7 and 8 year old ‘grandchidlren’. Their mother was our last foster daughter and has fallen into addiction. The Lord has given us this responsibility in order to help break the chains of addiction in their family.
I love to play the piano and sing. I also love to travel and read.
