I grew up in England with my sister and brother, mother and step-father. I first knew that I was going to be a teacher when I was 13 years old. I started teaching life science to 7th graders in Georgia. When my husband and I moved to Virginia I taught Earth and Space science to 9th graders and Biology to 10th graders. After 3 years we moved to Florida where I taught the next 8 years to 9-12 graders Biology, Earth Space Science, Marine Science or Chemistry. God has given to me the spiritual gift of “teacher”. I love teaching children and love interacting with students. This past year I have been blessed to be able to stay at home with my own children and homeschool them. I have a current Florida Teachers certificate for Biology, Earth and Space Science and Chemistry. I have also taught fine art painting at Michaels Arts and Crafts for 5 years.
I grew up in a Catholic school but rebelled from God in such a restricting environment. When I was in college my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was devastated and immediately started praying to my own father not to take her away from me. (my father died when I was a year old) One of my co-workers called me and asked for my mom’s name and told me that she would tell everyone at her church to pray for my mom. I was humbled. When I returned to college after my mom started recovering she asked me to accompany her to her church. I felt obliged to go because she had been so kind but I didn’t want to believe in God. So I went but from the minute I entered Cross Point Church in Auburn Alabama God was speaking through the preacher to me directly! I fell down on my knees and wept. I continued to grow in faith and love for God and met my future husband only AFTER I gave myself to Him! My mom is still cancer free (17 yrs later!)
My children, painting with acrylics, reading, sketching, photography, nature walks, science, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, beach walks, collecting shells, shark teeth, and fossils, geology and paleontology. I love history and reenacting history (civil war, war of 1812, revolutionary war) I even love sewing mine and my children’s costumes! I have enjoyed but don’t get to do since being a mother blacksmithing, and glass bead making
