My name is Maria.
I have over 10 years of experience working at many different public schools as an Early Childhood Education Teacher and Teaching Assistant with levels Kindergarten to Grade 6.
My experience includes working in classrooms, small groups, and one on one specifically as a Teacher, Behavioural Teaching Assistant, and Special Needs Teaching Assistant developing individual education plans modified to each students’ needs and academic goals.
My passion is teaching and tutoring, and and teaching online from home is a great opportunity to allow me to continue doing what I love most!
My educational approach consists of the philosophy that children learn at their own pace in what interests them the most, making the students more engaged in their path to learning. I also enjoy teaching classes that are faith based in Christianity.
My teaching strengths are mostly in Science, Math, English, and Spanish Immersion.
Being bilingual allows me the opportunity to teach in both English and Spanish for young learners. I am a native Spanish speaker.
As a visual learner, I like to include a lot of images, media, and videos in my teaching method, with the use of Powerpoint and YouTube, mostly.
In my classroom I like to include games as well so that learning can be fun and engaging!
My teaching strategies are interactive to ensure opportunities for participation for all students in the form of a presentation, discussions, Q&A, and feedback at the end of class.
I also LOVE to include Usborne Books into my teaching and curriculum, when relevant, as they are both educational AND fun!
I am a home schooling Mom of 3.
Uruguay is my country of birth, I was raised in Port Chester NY, and I live in Ontario, Canada.
As a family, we enjoy outdoor activities, horseback riding, and our favourite thing to do is spend quality time together and traveling!
I look forward to welcoming students into my online classroom; a safe, interactive, and fun space for learning!
