Hi! I am Maria Cintron. I have been teaching English language learners as a resource teacher in public schools for 16 years. I have taught in Maryland and Florida, and currently reside in Florida.
As a military “brat,” I graduated from high school in Germany and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in international relations. After a few years working in a non-profit organization for colleges and universities in their department of diversity, equity, and international programs, I was accepted into a teaching fellowship program with The George Washington University in Washington, DC and Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland. There, I earned my teaching certificate and a Masters of Education in Secondary Education/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
I now have my teaching certification in Florida, certified in kindergarten through 6th grade general education, kindergarten through 12th grade ESOL, and have a reading endorsement. I love teaching English language, grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. I also enjoy teaching Florida history, US history, and civics for elementary age.
I look forward to learning with you!
When I was 10 years old, I was flipping through a little New Testament Bible that my mother had given me to take to church that day. I saw and read the Salvation Plan and Confession of Faith. It made complete sense to my 10 year old understanding and then and there, I put my life in God’s hands and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. That was the beginning of an amazing relationship with my Lord, and He has guided me and shown me his love in the good and the not so good times.
My interest in teaching actually began in my church in DC as a young adult when the church leaders noticed that I got a long really well with the teenagers. I was asked to assist in the 15 to 18 year old Bible class, eventually became the teacher, and the rest is history! I have served as a teacher, mentor, and youth leader. Then I moved on to working with younger children as a teacher, Christian Education director in my church, and Vacation Bible School director. I personally believe that working with children and youth is the most fun way to serve the Lord!
My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, especially my husband and three year old son, who is the light of our lives! We love to spend time outdoors and read. I also enjoy crafting and learning how to use my Cricut craft machine.
Currently, there are no courses.
