I am a mother of four adult children, a wife and a blessed woman that gets to do life with a Bible tucked under my arm and a paintbrush in my hand! Having taught ages 2-92, I am a passionate educator that loves to share color and creativity with all ages. I am a mixed media artist/digital artist by trade, a teacher of many years, and a stage painter/speaker, illustrator and author.
I was born into a “religious” home.
I adapted to my parents religion.
I went to church and did everything that I was supposed to do growing up.
When I was a young adult my grandmother died.
“Grams” was very special to me.
My religion could not sustain me through a personal tragedy.
Looking back, I had drifted further and further away from my religion –
Read the Bible
Spend daily prayer time with God
Allow the Gospel to transform my heart and my attitudes.
Change any bad habits
My life was not being lived as a testimony to the Holy Spirit living within me.
Ephesians 2:1-3 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
When my grandmother died, I tried to find comfort in my religion – my parents religion, and their customs.
But, I couldn’t find God.
My heart was so heavy, so broken. I started going back to church each week and I felt a bit better
I joined a bible study and I felt…..More firmly planted in truth
I volunteered at church, and I found my problems weren’t so bad after all.
I breathed in deeply of the Spirit of God and took my parents religion to a new place, as a personal relationship with my Savior.
Ephesians 2: 4-7 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
It didn’t matter if I was a good person following in my parents footsteps. I needed to step into my own relationship with Christ. When I was a little girl, I had a different last name – the name of my parents: Lisa Arndt. As I grew older, I met a man I fell in love with- and as a young woman I took His name. I was transformed from within, as two became one, united through God.
That’s how I think it is when we enter into a relationship with Jesus- dead in my flesh, I am made alive and seated in Heavenly places. Dave and I have had 4 lovely children, that the Lord entrusted their care to us while they walk on the earth. I think we should also have spiritual children, another generation that we lead from a religion into relationship.
Ephesians 2: 8-10 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
In my sadness, I found God. I traded in my parents religion for a personal relationship with Jesus.
I do read the Bible now and delight in opening His living word
I pray – a lot and often. Just as much as I speak to my husband every day, a lot – I speak to Jesus
I delight in spreading the Word that Jesus makes us new. I have a Bible Journaling community online that is alive and vibrant in His grace. I get to tour across the country speaking to women at live events and stage painting His heavenly messages. I get to do live workshops across the country, drawing women into the Word through color and creativity. I get to do life with a paintbrush in my hand and a Bible tucked under my arm!
When we believe in Him, He saved us by His grace and made us brand new. I delight in this creation He has made and love to share His grace with others.
I paint/draw/sketch./doodle/create constantly. It is my hobby, my profession and who I am!
