Hello there, my name is Lauren Ferguson and I cannot wait to meet you!
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida, both with academic honors. I always imagined myself teaching in a public-school setting; however, my education journey has been anything but traditional!
Over the last 12 years, the Lord has given me a passion for teaching Bible, discipleship, and character-building lessons to children, youth, and young adults through various settings. I have been a children’s ministry coordinator, on staff for a college ministry, a one-on-one tutor, an online ESL teacher to students in China, and a full-time missionary to the Dominican Republic and Africa.
During my four years in the Dominican Republic, I initially homeschooled missionary children ages 6-15 in math, English, history, and science. After having witnessed the lure of sex-tourism and prostitution on the island, I began teaching Empower Girl classes across several villages, encouraging young girls of their value in Jesus and His desire for them. My final year in the DR was spent developing relationships in a rural village where I created and taught bible lessons, coupled with the storybooks “The Princess and the Kiss” and “The Squire and the Scroll” by Jennie Bishop, to young girls and boys. This season culminated with a crowning and knighting ceremony of God’s princesses and squires with the royal charge of guarding their hearts in Jesus.
After leaving the Dominican Republic, I partnered with Christ’s Hope International, a ministry in Africa, for two years developing and writing four levels of curriculum (ages 4-15) about God’s love through Jesus and His design for manhood, womanhood, sexuality and marriage. These lessons are currently being taught in ministry care points across 7 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to AIDs affected orphans and vulnerable children.
Again, my teaching experience has been ANYTHING but ordinary, and I would not have it any other way! Where He leads, I follow!
