I currently reside in Virginia and am a Children’s Ministries Director for a large Methodist church about 30 minutes west of Washington, D.C. I am usually pretty creative and love colors, creating things, thinking “outside the box” and can be passionate about things which interest me. I have a teacher for many years ranging from Sunday School teacher to tutor to Girl Scout leader and homeschooling mom. I have a BS in Elementary Education and an M.Ed. in Gifted and Talented Education. I have 2 daughters, both grown, one of whom is a teacher in TX and the other is in college here in Virginia. One of my passions is teaching others and when I can see excitement in someone as they are learning, that makes my heart happy. I especially love to make the Bible and math come alive for young students.
I grew up in a Catholic/Lutheran home but attended Catholic mass for the most part. I have always known Jesus but will say that my faith really grew once I started working at a church and I was immersed in God’s word. Seeing the Bible come alive through teaching, and through the eyes of children, has really drawn me closer to God. I very much enjoy combining art and God’s word which helps me make connections in many ways. My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 46:10 which says, “Be still and know that I am God” which for me mean I need to be reminded to let go of things and let God handle them (worries, etc.). It also means, to me, that in the busyness of today’s world that it’s important to just be quiet and just FEEL the love of God.
My hobbies and interests I’ve mentioned a bit already but to elaborate, I love creating things. I love to draw, paint, and create art. I also enjoy reading in a quiet spot and stretching/yoga. My favorite animal is a squirrel which I collect (not real ones!) and I also enjoy jigsaw puzzles and sudoku.
