I have a BA in Music with a Minor in elementary education from Central Washington University. I obtained a Washington State Teaching Certificate in 1976. I taught in little Christian schools in Central Washington State for four years. They included 4-6th grade combination, K-preschool and K-1st grade combinations. After my marriage I volunteered in our Sunday school and on the worship team. Later after moving to Missoula Mt., I volunteered in the Christian school in our church. I taught reading and substitute taught for K-12th grades. I began homeschooling my five children in 1990 and continued till 2002. I taught or directed all the five subjects. I taught prereading, reading, math, social studies, writing, and science. I owned and operated a daycare fro 8 years; six years were on the Salish Kootenai Indian Reservation in my home in Pablo Mt. I taught prereading and reading, finger plays rhyming games, beginning math, how to listen to the teacher and obey the teacher. Most of all I loved the children and was honored to be their teacher and friend. After my daycare closed, I worked with developmentally disabled adults, doing personal care and helping them complete state mandated programs. I have my TESOL certificate to teach English on line to children in China. I enjoy the challenges of teaching on line and look forward to teaching on a Christian platform.
I first asked Jesus into my heart in the home of a sweet Christian mom, who taught a Good News Club in my neighborhood. Later as a teenager I was confronted by the book “The Cross and the Switch Blade.” The book challenged me to seek a deeper relationship with God. I wanted a bond with God that would change me and my world. I found Him when I decided to let Jesus direct my future, even if darkest Africa was my destiny. In college I was thrilled to be a part of a Christian group on campus. I got a degree in Music education and taught in little Christian schools so I would be free to share my best friend Jesus with my students. High lights of my life were teaching in Christian Schools, marriage to my wonderful husband, raising my five children, homeschooling them, being with my adult children and grandchildren, singing on the worship team, teaching Sunday school, being a part of Easter productions, loving on my daycare children and sharing my faith with coworkers. All have been a part of my service and my spiritual development over the years. Now in retirement I still want to share Jesus and teach kids.
Naturally I am fascinated with teaching. I love the creative process and have done many crafty activities. Painting bird houses, paper craft, crocheting knitting, sewing, paper bead jewelry, coloring with pencils and gel pens, cooking and developing recipes, and writing a cook book for my family. If there is a craft I haven’t done I would love to try it. I have many interests. I tend toward subjects about how things work in nature and anything that has a plot. novel, history and the social science of psychology and interpersonal relationships. I love music and teaching beginning piano has been a lot of fun in the passed. I have written simple songs using Bible verses for the text. I am looking forwards to teaching on a Christian platform and assisting home school families.
