It is so refreshing to be able to openly share my faith journey with you. I grew up in the Roman Catholic church and attended Catholic schools for 10 years and never heard the Gospel. My mother was a dedicated Catholic (and also a native of Peru) and my father was very confused about his faith (or lack of ). It is with this background that I ended up at a small college in Virginia, that just happened to be (nothing is by accident with the Lord) within 45 minutes of Lynchburg (home of Liberty University and Thomas Road Baptist Church). Being estranged from my family for various reasons, I purposed to stay in Lynchburg after graduation. During my time at college I worked at Sam’s Club (which happened to be right across the street form Liberty). Many of the workers were Liberty students and one of the sample ladies attended TRBC. Looking back I see how the Lord used them to plant seeds of faith in me. A few months after graduation I became friends with some amazing Christian business people. Through fellowship with them and through their example I felt drawn to what they had but I wasn’t sure what it was. They had such a peace. In the meanwhile I feel the Lord was preparing me for salvation because I began to let go of a lot of poor lifestyle choices. Soon a question was posed to me about being yoked with someone of another faith and I wasn’t sure how to respond. For the first time, I began searching for answers (again, the Lord preparing me). Then one weekend I attended a business conference and there was a non-denominational service. For the first time in my life I heard the Gospel and realized I had a very clear choice to make (and that not making it was an automatic choice for eternity in hell). That is when I came forward and asked Jesus Christ to save me. God is so good. Soon after getting baptized I started attending Thomas Road Baptist Church. With in a few months I met my husband, got married, started a family and continue on our faith journey to this day. Thank you for listening!

As a family we enjoy devotions, reading through the Bible, board games, eating out, movies at home with fresh made popcorn (yum!) and walking/riding bikes. My husband and I enjoy a date out when we can and although it has been a while, our go-to game is Scrabble. Personally, I enjoy moments of quiet (rare), reading when possible, organizing/de-cluttering my house, and a little bit (a very little bit) of sewing. Our family is active in our church and my husband and I help to teach Children’s Church and VBS. We also participate in Christian camp as we are able. Have a blessed day!
