Hi there! My name is Debbie Demi. Teaching math is something that I’m very passionate about – not only because math is an important subject – but because I think that the Lord has gifted me in such a way to make math enjoyable. My goal is always to make math become my students’ favorite subject :-). I love math and rubs off on my students.

Oh… my life is a lot more than math (though I sure do a lot of it!). I spent the last 25 years homeschooling my 7 children. Four of them are married, successfully employed college graduates from Penn State, West Chester, and Temple. Two are still and college and I still have a 10th graders at home. It’s been quite a journey that I would do all over again! My husband Jeff and I have been married almost 33 years and partner together in ministry at our local church.

I graduated from Penn State University in 1986 with a degree in Secondary Mathematics. After teaching at a local high school, I took a sabbatical (a long one) to stay home and homeschool my children. However, about 13 years ago, I began teaching homeschool mathematics classes at our church’s homeschool co-op. I have taught Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, SAT Math Prep, and ACT Math Prep. As the years progressed, I began teaching some of my classes online to accommodate more students. I also tutor in my home on a daily basis. I’d like to say that most of the students that I taught have learned to love mathematics and have enjoyed me as their teacher. Many of my students have gone on to careers involving math such as engineering and computer science (as have my own children).

I have an active PA Secondary Math certification.

I did not grow up in a Christian home, but the Lord began drawing me to himself at a young age. However, it wasn’t until I was in college that I understood that I could not earn my way to heaven by my good works. Through involvement in a campus ministry at Penn State, the Lord opened up my eyes to the fact that Jesus paid it all and that all my sins were laid on him at the cross; he took the punishment that I deserved. It was at that time that I turned from my good-works mentality and put my full confidence in Jesus’s work on my behalf. Since then, God has been faithful to work in me and hold me fast to him through many “toils, dangers and snares.” He has been faithful. I’m grateful for his grace that’s at work in me every day giving me the desire to live my life fully and completely for his kingdom and his glory.

I love to read! But, really my kids are my hobby. It takes a lot of time to keep up with 7 kids, 4 daughters-in-law and one precious grandson.

Oh… and sometimes I do SAT math tests for fun!
