Hi there! My name is Debbie Demi. Teaching math is something that I’m very passionate about – not only because math is an important subject – but because I think that the Lord has gifted me in such a way to make math enjoyable. My goal is always to make math become my students’ favorite subject :-). I love math and it rubs off on my students.
Oh… my life is a lot more than math (though I sure do a lot of it!). I spent the last 25 years homeschooling my 7 children. Four of them are married, successfully employed college graduates from Penn State, West Chester, and Temple. Two are still in college and I still have a 10th grader at home. It’s been quite a journey that I would do all over again! My husband Jeff and I have been married almost 33 years and partner together in ministry at our local church.
I graduated from Penn State University in 1986 with a degree in Secondary Mathematics. After teaching at a local high school, I took a sabbatical (a long one) to stay home and homeschool my children. However, about 13 years ago, I began teaching homeschool mathematics classes at our church’s homeschool co-op. I have taught Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, SAT Math Prep, and ACT Math Prep. As the years progressed, I began teaching some of my classes online to accommodate more students. I also tutor in my home on a daily basis. I’d like to say that most of the students that I taught have learned to love mathematics and have enjoyed me as their teacher. Many of my students have gone on to careers involving math such as engineering and computer science (as have my own children).
I have an active PA Secondary Math certification.
