Hi! I’m Ms. Candice. I’m a retired LMFT and have 7 years experience in both teaching and working as a professional counselor. I have taught in public schools, online, and in church classes. Many of my classes focus on social skills, psychology/sociology, creative writing, and some classes about Titanic History and Bible classes, just for fun.
I love working with kids and teens of all ages, and love being part of their educational and faith journey. I have been teaching primarily online for the last 3 years as an ESL teacher and a private teacher running my own teaching business.
I have a BA in Psychology with a minor in each sociology & religious studies from a small, Christian University. My MA is in Counseling, emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I am also a published author and an editor, which is why I love being a part of students writing journey. I look forward to working with each of you in my virtual classroom.
I grew up in a Christian home, and found my faith early on. After a not-so-easy start in life, I realized in 8th grade that my faith had to be about me, not my parents. From that point on, I have worked to grow in my faith each day. Prayer, private devotional time, church fellowship, and worship are part of my life. I strive to integrate my faith into everything I do, even when I’m working in a secular marketplace.
I serve in my church, and my husband and I are preparing to plant a church in the next year to bring the Gospel to places that really need Jesus.
I am an author. I really enjoy reading and writing. I love a great story and a great mystery, so I watch detective shows and read cozy mystery books. I also spend a lot of time learning – because I’m an academic at heart.
My other hobbies include spending time with my family and my children, and visiting nature when I can (when it isn’t too hot outside).
Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I’m pretty much happy from October through January, as that is my favorite time of the year. Elephants are my favorite animal, and I use this topic to help with some of my teaching.
