Hello! My name is Allie Jennings. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. After graduating, I taught high school English before pursuing a career in marketing with Newell Rubbermaid. Once my children were born, I enjoyed homeschooling all three of them for eight years. I also had the privilege of serving as a Classical Conversations tutor in our local co op, where I introduced and reviewed each week’s memory work with fourth graders. Currently, I am teaching ESL Online as well as teaching elementary reading and writing. I am thrilled about the prospect of working with a Christian organization! I have a passion for helping student’s make connections between English literature, in particular, and their own walk with Christ.
I was raised by two Christian parents who were very active in our church. At the age of seven, I came to understand that I am a sinner in need of forgiveness and redemption. I knew that I was not able to save myself and that Jesus’ work on the cross was the only sufficient payment for my sins. My parents walked me through he process of becoming a believer and I was baptized at our church in Clearwater, Florida. Throughout my teenage years, I grew in maturity and character as I was exposed to more teaching and my parents continued to disciple me at home. God’s kindness saw me through four years at a very secular college, the adoption of our three children and the recent passing of my precious father. He has always been enough and he will continue to be enough, no matter what we encounter in this life.
My favorite activity is watching my three children play sports, but I also enjoy running, reading and decorating. I also enjoy UNC basketball, skiing and French culture. We lived in France for three and a half years, and many of the recipes and traditions stuck with me!
