The dates for the this class are set for the August 24th SAT (though it will prepare you for any of the fall testing dates). Taking this course in the summer will allow for the student maximum time to prepare without the pressure of additional coursework.
If your child is going to college, the SAT is the most important test that they may take! Not only does the SAT score influence which college they will get into, but it also greatly affects how much scholarship money they get. So taking an SAT course is well worth the investment.
After teaching SAT math prep for the last 8 years, I have developed a curriculum that has proven to increase SAT math scores significantly. (Click here for actual scores from one of my classes.) Using Kahn Academy, Mario’s Huge SAT Math Review, the Official College Board SAT Study Guide, self-made videos along with other resources, I will be both an accountability partner and tutor to prep your child for the math portion of the SAT.
Each student will receive an accountability sheet (see the in-process sample) to keep track of the his or her homework.
This class does require a commitment to complete the assigned work and to show up to the live sessions for the maximum benefit. Most homeschooled students are able to complete their work without too much difficulty.
Here is a note from my former SAT students:
“Hey, Mrs. Demi. Well, I got a 1300 overall, which is nice because on the PSAT earlier this year I got a 1110. The big surprise, however, is that my writing/English score stayed at a 640 and my Math section went up 190 points from a 470 to a 660 (which is already 70 points above my best practice test, a 590). So, I was honestly really surprised. Clearly, your class has helped me a ton, and I’d love to take it again next year!”
