“Once there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmond and Lucy.” (C.S. Lewis,1949). Come explore the Chronicles of Narnia through reading, writing and art!
In this class, students will learn about C.S. Lewis’s “Chronicles of Narnia”. We will read and explore the book 1, discuss theme and analyze content. We will read, write and create as we infuse artistic elements and process based art interwoven with the literature. We will participate in a read-aloud of “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” an illustrated version of the story!
Students will learn through the use of live discussion, forum discussion, readings, comprehension, process-based art, demonstrations and interactive experiences, as well as through watching and listening to audio-video clips and materials.
This is an introductory class, and no background knowledge is required.
Students will be assigned one reading and comprehension activity per week, and a final culminating process-based art project will be due at the end of the course. Students will use art-infused activities throughout the class sessions each week as well.
Some examples might be
1. creating a watercolor of a fantastical place,
2.analyzing and creating character with identifying features drawing and describing characters and 3.inventing their own
4. writing an alternate scene for a selection of the story, involving themselves as a character
5. incorporating problems in the story into a real life scenario to solve the problem,
6.comparative analysis, identifying plot and other literary elements and
7. using critical thinking skills to complete comprehension activities.

Learner progress will be evaluated through participation in discussions and completion of assignments.
