A robust vocabulary can open the door to higher SAT and ACT scores, but beyond that, it can open the doors to a world of knowledge. Join us for an in-depth vocabulary class that is full of interaction! This class pulls common SAT words together in a leveled environment, where words become progressively more challenging in Levels 1 – 4. This is Level 1, Quarter 1.

The above preview video is from Level 1, Set 4, and the other levels and sets will follow a similar structure.
The purpose of this class is to get the students to interact with the words in a way that will help to cement the meaning in their minds. By interacting with the words in multiple ways, this is far more likely to happen.
In this class, we will deeply explore 9 SAT/ACT vocabulary words per class (63 SAT words in total) through a Google Slides presentation that will host:
- anonymous live polls via web or text to establish prior knowledge of terms and definitions
- class-wide discussions over material
- exemplar graphics and photographs to connect to the term visually
- a brief etymology (word history) for the term to establish connections between related words
- teacher-created example sentences
- a chance for students to apply their new knowledge to create their own example sentences in turn
- lists of synonyms and antonyms for each term, with opportunities for learners to add more
- play an interactive class competition game via Quizizz, Kahoot!, Matching Pairs, etc.
In addition, learners will be provided with:
- a guided notes graphic organizer in your enrollment “welcome” message that you can print week after week to organize the terms neatly in a binder for future study sessions
- a “quick reference” study guide posted in the classroom at the end of class for those who weren’t able to attend or want to double-check their own notes
- access to a password-protected Quizlet Study Set that allows students to play games to review words and combine sets with past sets, as well
- a self-paced cumulative review game covering all of the learned words in Sets 1-4 for a mid-class review, then another in-class review game encompassing Sets 1-7. These will be available for unlimited individual study in Quizlet, where students can study at their own time and pace.
Videos are encouraged to be on for this course to improve interaction and comprehension assessment.
