As humans, we find other humans fascinating. This desire to know ourselves better and more deeply has lead to the study of psychology. God has opened up the world to us through scientific study, and how humans tick is no different. There are even Biblical examples of some of our issues in ancient times, and how faith can play a role in healing.
In this class, we will look at the basics of psychology: how it got started, different theories/practices, biological processes and impact on every day life. We will also look at how it intersects with faith.
As someone who has studied psychology, this class is just a fun way to introduce new, young students to the field. This is a self-paced class.
We’ll cover:
1- How this all got started. What is psychology? Where did it come from? How has the field developed? What were the initial theories of human behavior?
2- Biological processes related to psychology & neurology (Central Nervous System, Endocrine System, etc)
3 – What are the different theories? How do they apply?
4 – Development & learning
5- How we think/learn/relate
6 – Abnormal psychology
7 – Psychology intersecting with faith
8 – How does this impact every day life? Activities we can practice and ways people differ
Why take this course from Ms. Candice?
With my background in Psychology from a Christian University, and my Masters in Counseling from a secular university, I come to this field knowing what God’s word says about people and what His creation says about Him. I love passing that on to young learners.
