Polished Public Speaking
Learn to conquer your fear or distaste for public speaking! The course will cover topics such as: poise and presentation, powerful and clear language choice, rhetoric, structure and coherence, and persuasiveness. We will examine speeches throughout history and create and orate our own speeches in three main types of public speaking: informative, demonstrative, and dramatic monologue. Speeches will be evaluated through peer evaluation as well as teacher use of rubric. Grades will be assigned based the teacher evaluation; peer evaluations will be provided both as encouragement and suggested areas to work on in subsequent assignments.
