American Literature Seminar - 1920's
Come explore the world of the Roaring 20s and the Jazz Age through American Literature of the era. With a primary text of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, complemented by the Harlem Renaissance poetry of Cummings, Hughes, St. Vincent Millay and others, this course will give students a full picture of this oft-romanticized era in American history.
*While this course is listed for high school, because of some of the themes present in Fitzgerald’s work, I would describe it as a course designed for juniors or seniors. We will grapple with the themes and how we, as Christians, might approach the despair that Fitzgerald saw in his generation a bit differently than Fitzgerald himself did.
