In this course, I will be offering a 16 week General Music class to 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. In this class, students will learn the basics of music, such as rhythms (note names and note values), instruments and note letter names. Flash cards, posters and audio/video recordings will be used to aid in learning.
Each month, the students will study a famous composer. Worksheets and listening guides will be provided. Below are the composers we will be studying:
September–Vivaldi
October–Bach
November–Handel
December–Haydn
The students will also learn a hymn each month. PowerPoint slides and audio/video recordings will be used. Students will learn the story behind these hymns:
September–Amazing Grace
October–It Is Well With My Soul
November–Count Your Blessings
December–Silent Night, Joy to the World and Go Tell It on the Mountain
