In this course I will be offering a 16 week General Music class to 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. In this class, students will continue to learn the basics of music, such as rhythms (note names and note values), instruments and note letter names. Flash cards, posters and audio/video recordings will be used to aid in learning. Material in this class will build on what was learned in the Semester 1 (Fall) class.
Each month, the students will study a famous composer. Worksheets and listening guides will be provided. Below are the composers we will be studying:
January–Mozart
February–Beethoven
March–Rossini
April–Brahms
May–Saint-Saens
The students will also learn a hymn each month. PowerPoint slides and audio/video recordings will be used. Students will learn the story behind these hymns:
January–What a Friend We Have in Jesus
February–How Great Thou Art
March–Victory in Jesus
April–Great is Thy Faithfulness
May–Standing on the Promises
