This is a year long course. Classes are designed to support the student in completing a novella of their own making by the end of the year with a printed physical copy. Although students will edit each other’s work as part of this course, this is not an editing class! This is a creative writing coarse that presents the art of story telling, character development, plot structure, brainstorming and using the imagination. Students will have a completed novella only by participating in both semesters. Lessons are progressive over the coarse of the year. The result is a printed copy of the student’s work at the end of the year.
Prerequisites: Student should be able to keep attention to task, be serious about writing and already have an understanding of grammar and sentence structure. This is not an English class but a creative writing coarse. Attendance is extremely important. Missing lessons can cause a snowball effect where a student gets behind and can’t catch up.
